16 Graduates from Igbinedion University Inducted into Medical Council

Sixteen graduates from Igbinedion University, Okada, located in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, have officially become members of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN. This significant event took place during the 18th induction ceremony of medical students since the establishment of the university. Dr. Tajudeen Sanusi, the registrar of MDCN, presided over the ceremony, administering the oath to the new medical doctors. He emphasized the importance of upholding integrity, professionalism, and exercising caution at all times. Representing Dr. Sanusi, Dr. Henry Okwukwenye advised the new doctors not to be daunted by the challenges of the profession, assuring them that professionalism and hard work can surmount any obstacle. During the ceremony, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, the Vice Chancellor of the University, expressed the institution’s commitment to enhancing the healthcare delivery system in the country. He described the induction as a momentous occasion, acknowledging the years of hard work, dedication, perseverance, and transformation on the part of the doctors. Professor Ezemonye, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Raphael Adeghe, commended the new doctors for their diligence, compassion, and readiness to serve humanity. He also highlighted the institution’s awareness of the current challenges facing the healthcare delivery system in Nigeria, particularly the shortage of skilled healthcare professionals. He further noted the university’s commitment to collaborating with MDCN to address these challenges and expand access to medical training. Encouraging the new doctors to embrace continuous learning and growth, Professor Ezemonye stressed the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of the field of medicine.
