Suspected Female Kidnapper Arrested Trying to Collect N1.5m Ransom in Taraba

The Nigerian Army’s 93 Battalion, under the 6 Brigade, has apprehended a suspected female kidnapper, Janet Igohia, as she attempted to collect a N1.5 million ransom for an abducted victim in Taraba.

Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, the spokesperson for the brigade, disclosed that the troops also captured a notorious gunrunner involved in supplying arms and ammunition to criminals within Taraba State and other parts of the country.

It was revealed that the suspect, Janet Igohia, was married to a notorious criminal who served as the second-in-command to the late Hana Terwase. Currently married to the leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba, she admitted to having been previously married to other high-profile criminals, including late Terkibi Gemaga and late Gana Terwase, both of whom were notorious kidnappers killed by security forces.

Additionally, the troops deployed in Mararaba Baissa community of Donga LGA also apprehended two suspected gunrunners, Alhaji Adamu Damisa (40 years old) and Usman Isah (44 years old), who were allegedly involved in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling. The recovered sum of N600,000 was revealed to be part of the proceeds from their illicit activities.

This decisive action by the Nigerian Army signifies a significant blow to criminal activities in Taraba State, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
