Segun Odegbami Advises NFF to Shield Super Eagles from Distractions Ahead of AFCON 2023 Final

With the AFCON 2023 final looming, Segun Odegbami, a former Super Eagles winger, has urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to protect the team from potential distractions. The Super Eagles are set to face the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the much-anticipated finale in Abidjan this Sunday.

Odegbami, who clinched the AFCON title with the Super Eagles in 1980, emphasized the need for the NFF to create a protective environment for the team. Drawing on an anecdote of a triathlon athlete who stumbled just before the finish line, he stressed the importance of maintaining focus until the end.

Quoting Odegbami from thenff.com, he stated, “The NFF should not allow any kind of distractions around the team in the next couple of days before the match. Let us allow the boys to concentrate and focus hard on the task at hand. No frivolous visits to the team camp should be allowed.”

As the Super Eagles prepare to vie for AFCON glory, Odegbami’s call for shielding the team from potential disruptions underscores the significance of unwavering focus as they approach this pivotal showdown.
