Labour Party Makes Adjustments for Edo State Gubernatorial Primaries

The Labour Party has announced changes to its guidelines for the upcoming Edo State governorship primary election. Following a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee, the sale of forms, originally set to close on February 10, has been extended to February 12. Additionally, the governorship primaries, initially scheduled for February 22, will now take place on February 23.

In a statement released by Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, it was revealed that the party has modified the guidelines for candidate selection. Notably, the number of local government delegates in all 18 LGAs has been increased from five to seven.

This change comes after careful consideration of input from various stakeholders within the party, including members of the National Assembly, elders, and local leaders in the state. The decision to increase the number of delegates aims to promote greater participation and democratization of the electoral process.

The party has affirmed its commitment to ensuring a fair and unbiased environment for all aspirants, emphasizing that it will not interfere with the process leading to the selection of its flag bearer.
