PDP Selects Delegates in Edo State Ahead of Gubernatorial Primary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has elected 17 National Delegates, including Chief Odion Olaye of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Benin chief Osaro Idah. These delegates emerged from last Saturday’s ward congresses in the state.

Olaye and Idah were elected by ward delegates in Oredo and Egor local government areas, while former senators Francis Alimikhena and Yisa Braimah were also among those elected.

The ward and national delegates congresses were held in preparation for the party’s gubernatorial primary scheduled for February 22, 2024, and took place in 17 out of the 18 local government areas in the state. However, the ward congress election in Etsako Central Local Government Area was canceled due to the alleged abduction of nine electoral officers.

A statement by Tony Anenih (Jnr), the State Organizing Secretary, dated February 9, notified party members of the National Delegates Election in all LGAs of the state, except for Etsako Central Local Government Area. The congress was conducted by officials from the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja.
