Nigeria’s Mikel Obi Confident: “AFCON 2023 Is Coming Home”

Former captain of the Super Eagles, John Obi, is expressing strong confidence that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be claimed by Nigeria. Taking to his Instagram story, Mikel Obi predicted the AFCON trophy’s return to Nigeria just hours before the final showdown between Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder fervently supported Jose Peseiro’s team, expressing his belief that the Super Eagles would emerge victorious against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, especially with the backing of their home supporters.

In a rallying cry, Mikel posted, “Let’s go boys. It’s [AFCON trophy] coming home, @Super Eagles.”

Nigeria secured their spot in the final by triumphing over South Africa in the semi-final, while Cote d’Ivoire secured their place after defeating DR Congo.
