Sebastien Haller Admits Pressure Ahead of AFCON 2023 Final Against Super Eagles

Ivory Coast’s standout striker, Sebastien Haller, has opened up about the pressure he’s facing in anticipation of the showdown with the formidable Super Eagles defenders in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final. Haller, who secured Ivory Coast’s victory in the semi-finals against DR Congo, expressed his thoughts during the pre-match press conference leading up to the final.

The Borussia Dortmund star, who missed the Group A clash against Nigeria due to injury, is determined to leave his mark on the final match. When questioned about his sentiments towards facing the Nigerian defense, Haller conveyed, “We are well aware of Nigeria’s style of play. The upcoming game will be physically demanding. It’s our responsibility to challenge them and capitalize on their weaknesses.”

Acknowledging the similarity in physique between himself and the Nigerian defenders, Haller affirmed, “Despite their physical presence, we are committed to delivering an exceptional performance tomorrow. Undoubtedly, the pressure is palpable. As a striker, the responsibility of scoring goals rests on my shoulders. However, this burden is shared collectively, as strikers are always at the forefront.”

The forthcoming clash promises to showcase Haller’s prowess and determination in a high-stakes encounter, as both teams vie for the prestigious AFCON title.
