LP Treasurer Accuses Party Chairman of Secret Alliance with PDP in Edo State

Mrs. Oluchi Oparah, the National Treasurer of the Labour Party (LP), has made startling allegations against the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, claiming that he is involved in anti-party activities. Oparah leveled these accusations during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show program.

During a press conference in Abuja, Oparah demanded that Abure provide an account of party funds amounting to over N3.5 billion. She emphasized that these funds were proceeds from the sale of forms and various fundraisers for the 2023 general elections. Additionally, she alleged that Abure obstructed her from carrying out her constitutionally assigned role of managing the party’s accounts.

In response to the Labour Party’s statement that she was being influenced by external forces, Oparah reaffirmed her position and criticized the party for spreading misinformation. She maintained, “They are masters at disseminating wrong information.”

Notably, Oparah claimed that Abure has been in talks and formed an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in Edo State. She urged for an impartial investigation into these claims and challenged Abure to refute any involvement with the opposition, stating, “If there’s anybody that has any alliance with the opposition, it’s the National Chairman of the Labour Party. Let him come out and say he hasn’t been in talks with the government of Edo State.”

These allegations have stirred controversy within the LP, highlighting the internal strife and potential ramifications for the upcoming political landscape in Edo State.
