Yul Edochie Addresses Backlash Over AFCON Prophecy

Popular Nollywood actor turned pastor, Yul Edochie, has responded to criticism regarding his inaccurate prophecy concerning the AFCON 2023 final.

Before the match on Sunday, Edochie predicted that the Nigeria Super Eagles would defeat Ivory Coast in the final. He made this prediction on his Instagram page, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s victory. However, the Super Eagles suffered a 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast.

Following the loss, Nigerians took to social media to express their disappointment and label Edochie’s prophecy as fake.

Responding to the backlash, Edochie acknowledged the defeat and expressed pride in the team’s performance. In a post on his page, he stated, “It is well. Thank you Super Eagles. Getting to the finals is as good as winning. We are proud of you all. Great performance in the tournament.”

Despite the outcome, Edochie reaffirmed his love for Nigeria and expressed optimism for the future, saying, “Win or lose, good or bad, we’ve been here. I love my country Nigeria. Better days ahead. Giant of Africa.”
