Côte d’Ivoire’s victorious national football team will each receive $82,000 and a house worth the same amount as a token of appreciation for their remarkable win at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. President Alassane Ouatarra announced this generous reward to honor the team’s outstanding achievement in securing their third continental title. The Ivorian squad clinched the championship on Sunday, February 11, with a stunning 2-1 comeback victory over Nigeria in front of a crowd of over 57,000 at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe. President Ouatarra expressed his joy and pride, stating, “You have brought happiness to all Ivorians, bravo, bravo.” Notably, Coach Emerse Fae will be awarded $164,000 for his leadership in guiding the team to victory. Furthermore, the players and technical staff have been bestowed with the nation’s highest honor by the head of state. With this triumph, Côte d’Ivoire has joined the elite ranks of Nigeria as the only two African nations to have claimed the AFCON trophy three times. Ghana holds four titles, while Cameroon and Egypt lead with five and seven championships, respectively.
