Bayelsa Governor Diri and Deputy Sworn In for Second Term

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, and Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, were sworn in for their second consecutive four-year term in office. The oath of office and allegiance was administered by the state Chief Judge, Justice Matilda Ayemieye, at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

In his address after taking the oath, Governor Diri expressed gratitude to the people for their support in re-electing him. He emphasized the prudent use of public funds during his first term, highlighting the completion of inherited projects, initiation of new ones, and the creation of opportunities for the people of Bayelsa.

The governor pledged to focus on completing the Yenagoa-Oporoma Road and the Nembe-Brass Road, while also assuring regular power supply and clean water. He committed to prioritizing agriculture in his second term and called for continued support from the people, legislature, and judiciary to foster a conducive atmosphere for developmental projects in the state.

Notable figures in attendance at the event included Vice-President Kashim Shettima, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-President of Liberia, Jeremiah Joseph Boakai, former Governor Seriake Dickson, and several serving governors.

The swearing-in ceremony marks the beginning of another term for Governor Diri and Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo, as they embark on further governance in Bayelsa State.
