Cashew Farmers Seek Police Help Against Alleged Hijacking of Produce

The Farmers Forum of Nigeria (FFN) has urged the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to address the alleged illegal operations of Hon Ojo Ajanaku, who is accused of hijacking cashew produce along Nigerian highways under the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN).
In a statement, the FFN, represented by National Spokesperson Bar. Ibrahim Adama, highlighted an ongoing court case between NCAN and the Kogi State Cashew Stakeholders Association. They warned that police commissioners siding with NCAN in Edo, Ogun, Osun, or Lagos states could be seen as contempt of court if they impede the movement of farm produce.
The FFN also alleged that three trucks of cashew produce are being unlawfully detained in Ibilo, Edo state, by individuals linked to Hon. Ojo Ajanaku, with the apparent assistance of the local police.
The FFN has called for the intervention of the Inspector General of Police, stressing the importance of upholding the required standards for the movement of produce to prevent further tension in the country.
The FFN emphasized, “Nigeria is facing significant challenges, and any action that could incite negative public reaction should be carefully avoided.”
