The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has issued a weather forecast indicating hazy and cloudy conditions from Saturday to Monday across the country. The agency’s outlook, released in Abuja, anticipates thick to moderate dust haze on Saturday, with horizontal visibility ranging from 1km to 3km. Northern and North Central cities are expected to experience localized visibility of less than 1,000m throughout the forecast period.

In the South, a hazy atmosphere with a few patches of clouds is expected, with isolated thunderstorms forecasted over parts of Ekiti and Ondo states in the morning. Additionally, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over several states during the afternoon and evening hours.

On Sunday, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 1km to 3km is expected in the North and the North Central regions, with localized visibility of less than 1,000m. Meanwhile, a cloudy atmosphere with spells of sunshine is anticipated over the inland and coastal regions of the South. Prospects of isolated thunderstorms are expected in various states during the afternoon and evening hours.

Looking ahead to Monday, NiMet forecasts slight dust haze in the northern region and moderate dust haze in the North Central region, with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km. Patches of clouds are predicted over the inland areas of the South and the coast, with isolated thunderstorms expected over specific states in the morning and afternoon to evening hours.
