Authorities in Nairobi are conducting an investigation into a suspected child trafficking ring following the rescue of 16 children from a rented house in Kayole’s Soweto area. The operation was prompted by a report filed by a children protection officer from Embakasi Central Constituency at the Soweto Police Station, alerting them to the presence of children in the rented house. Upon arrival, police found 16 children in two rented rooms. The caregiver and a 54-year-old Tanzanian national present at the scene were unable to explain how the children ended up in their care. The rescued children, aged between 2 and 16 years old, were temporarily relocated to a Children’s Home in Nyando. Investigations are ongoing as authorities strive to unravel the circumstances and ensure the safety and well-being of the children. Bruhan Makong, a committed journalist covering crime, human rights, and global affairs, reported this story.
