Kaduna Governor Advocates for State Police to Combat Insecurity in Nigeria

The governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has emphasized the need for the establishment of state police to address the pervasive security challenges in Nigeria. In a recent interview on Channels TV, Governor Sani stressed the necessity of deploying additional forces to combat banditry and other criminal activities effectively.

Governor Sani called upon the National Assembly to amend the constitution and facilitate the creation of state police, highlighting his previous efforts as a Senator to sponsor such a bill. He expressed his optimism in the potential for state police to enhance existing security measures and acknowledged the support of some fellow governors in recognizing the collective responsibility in addressing the nation’s security issues.

Addressing the recent bandit attacks in the Igabi local government area, Governor Sani credited a proactive government response and coordinated security operations for bringing the situation under control. He emphasized ongoing collaboration with security agencies, involving regular meetings and intelligence sharing, to combat the growing security threats.

Furthermore, the governor revealed plans to establish additional military forward operation bases in Kaduna State in response to the resurgence of security challenges. He also directed the State Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials to affected communities.
