The head coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum, is on a determined mission to secure a spot for the Nigerian women’s national football team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Despite being nine-time African champions, the Super Falcons have faced disappointment in failing to qualify for the last three Olympic editions.
Waldrum’s strategy is set to be put into action as the Super Falcons gear up to face their fierce rivals, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, in the third round of the Olympic qualifiers. The first leg of this crucial encounter will take place at the Stade de la Reunification in Douala, with the return fixture scheduled for the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Expressing the significance of Olympic qualification, Waldrum emphasized, “The goal obviously is to qualify for the Olympics. We can’t look ahead of ourselves and say this is what we want to achieve at the Olympics.” He highlighted the importance of the upcoming matches against Cameroon, a team that has historically posed challenges for the Super Falcons.
