Manchester United have released a statement, after charges of attempted rape and assault were dropped against Mason Greenwood.

Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 amid allegations surrounding images and videos.

On Thursday, the Crown Prosecution Service explained that the charges brought against the 21-year-old were discontinued after key witnesses withdrew their involvement.

But United in a statement, said: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.

“The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps.

“We will not make any further comment until that process is [over].

“Greenwood isn’t returning to training at the moment.”
