Lagos Deputy Governorship Candidate Resigns from Labour Party

Islamiyat Oyefusi, the deputy gubernatorial candidate for the Labour Party in the upcoming 2023 Lagos governorship election, has made the decision to leave the party. In her resignation letter addressed to her ward chairman, titled “Re: Resignation of membership from Labour Party,” Oyefusi expressed her gratitude to Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour for the opportunity to be his running mate but stated that she could no longer align with the current values of the Labour Party.

Oyefusi thanked everyone who supported her during the 10 months of her political career, expressing her gratitude to her team and supporters across Lagos State and Nigeria. Despite the challenging political landscape, she acknowledged their hard work during the 2023 electioneering period.

She concluded her letter with a hopeful outlook, stating her desire to work with everyone towards creating a more inclusive political landscape for Lagos and a better future for Nigeria.
