Kano State Government Establishes Committee for 2024 Ramadan Feeding Program

The Kano State Government has set up a committee for the 2024 Ramadan Feeding Programme (RFP) across the state. The Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam, emphasized that the initiative aims to support residents regardless of their political affiliations. He urged the committee to plan the food distribution in designated areas within the state and emphasized the importance of completing the task within five days.

The Ramadan period, observed worldwide as a 29 or 30-day period of fasting among Muslims, is set to commence in the next 18 days. The deputy governor also called for a review of previous reports on the programme to address any identified loopholes. The committee’s terms of reference include identifying key distribution spots within the eight metropolitan local governments and 36 local government areas of the state.

Mr. Abdussalam stated, “The committee is to recommend breakfast menus for the targeted Muslim ummah during Ramadan and also identify individuals or groups deserving of government goodwill.”

He expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support to the administration of Gov. Abba Kabir -Yusuf. In response, the Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Ahmad Auwal, conveyed thanks to the state government for entrusting them with this significant Ramadan feeding task. He assured that the committee would diligently fulfill its mandate and called on philanthropists in the state to support the program.

Other committee members include commissioners of Women Affairs, Special Duties, Education, and Information.
