Tension Brews as Zamfara State House of Assembly Moves to Impeach Speaker Moriki

Tensions ran high at the Zamfara State House of Assembly as 18 out of 24 lawmakers made moves to impeach Speaker Hon. Bilyaminu Moriki. Security forces, heavily armed, have cordoned off the entrance gate to prevent potential chaos in Gusau. A member of the House, speaking anonymously, revealed plans for the speaker’s impeachment during a telephone interview with the press. The current assembly, inaugurated on June 13th, 2023, is predominantly composed of members from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
