Handball Federation Calls Up 26 Players for African Games Preparation

The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has taken a significant step by inviting 26 players to camp for the forthcoming African Games in Ghana. The senior men’s handball national team has commenced rigorous training in Abuja in anticipation of the 13th Africa Games.

Under the guidance of coach Solomon Yola, the team, fresh off their victory at the President’s Cup during the Africa Handball Nations Cup in Egypt, is poised to showcase Nigeria’s prowess in the handball event at the African Games. Yola expressed confidence in the players, emphasizing their dedication throughout the year, including their recent participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.

“We will use this camp to address any deficiencies we have noticed thus far. Every aspect of the team will be strengthened before our departure for Ghana,” Yola stated, highlighting the team’s preparation strategy.

Among the 26 players summoned for camp are Joseph Gbawuan, Daniel Bello, Mohammed Anas, and Salami Damilare, reinforcing Nigeria’s lineup with seasoned talents. The team’s composition also includes promising players like Sunday Samson and Adamolugbe, reflecting a blend of experience and emerging talent.

The upcoming 13th African Games in Ghana, scheduled from March 8 to 23, serves as a platform for these handball athletes to exhibit their skills on the continental stage. With a dedicated coaching staff and a roster of skilled players, Nigeria is poised to make a mark in the handball competition at the prestigious event.
