Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has once again claimed the English Premier League Manager of the Month award after a strong run of results in January. This marks his third award in the last five months and makes him the coach with the most Manager of the Month trophies this season, having also won in August and November/December.

In January, the Gunners collected seven points from a possible nine, beginning with a goalless draw against Newcastle United, followed by a derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur and a win at the Emirates against Manchester United. Eddie Nketiah’s late goal secured the win over the Red Devils, putting Arsenal five points clear at the top of the league table.

Speaking after receiving the award, Arteta reflected on the squad’s form since the World Cup break: “After the World Cup break, you have certain questions – how is the team going to react, are we ready and have we lost that momentum? I don’t think we did; I think we used that time really well. We were lucky not to have some big problems in that period and the team responded by winning a lot of games. It’s difficult to choose the best moment because we had some big ones, but obviously the game that we won away at Spurs was a key one.”

The award brings Arteta’s total to five Manager of the Month honors in his three years in charge, having previously won in September 2021 and March 2022. He is now the first Arsenal manager to win the accolade three times in a single season.

In other recognitions, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford received the Player of the Month award, Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope was named Goalkeeper of the Month, and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise earned the Goal of the Month award.
