Successful Rescue Operation Saves 40 Kidnap Victims in Taraba State

The Police Command in Taraba recently conducted a successful rescue operation in collaboration with local hunters, leading to the liberation of 40 kidnapped victims in Yorro Local Government Area. Commissioner of Police David Iloyanomon attributed the operation’s success to the strategic use of local hunters familiar with the terrain.

The kidnappers’ hideout atop the Gongomaliki mountain provided a vantage point for monitoring security forces from a distance before launching attacks. However, the deployment of local hunters and vigilantes thwarted their plans, resulting in the rescue of 40 victims. Additionally, 10 suspects attempting to flee the mountain were apprehended by police operatives stationed at key locations.

Upon regaining their freedom, the rescued hostages received immediate medical attention at the police clinic in Jalingo for examination and treatment. The victims were abducted from various communities, including Dilla, Lanko, Gampu in Yorro Local Government Area, and Dekko and Kotsensi in Zing Local Government Area.

During a news briefing showcasing the rescued victims, CP Iloyanomon revealed harrowing details, such as one hostage losing an eye and another sustaining a gunshot wound. Furthermore, 10 suspected kidnappers in custody were presented, emphasizing the police’s commitment to collaborating with local hunters and vigilantes to bolster community safety.

By fostering stronger partnerships with the local community, law enforcement aims to protect residents and combat criminal activities effectively.
