The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, will restructure up to 80 percent of the country within the first six months of his administration if elected, former Enugu State governor Okwesilieze Nwodo said. Speaking on behalf of Atiku at the Atiku‑Okowa Diaspora Campaign Grand Finale held at the Shehu Yar’adua Centre in Abuja on Friday, Nwodo disclosed that the plan has already been worked out and is ready to be implemented after the inauguration on May 29.
Nwodo, who serves as Deputy Director of Research and Strategy for the Atiku‑Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, added that the five‑point agenda outlined in the former vice president’s policy document will serve as a rallying point for the country’s recovery, addressing the over‑dependence on the federal government. He highlighted that during the 16 years of PDP rule, the nation experienced relative peace, with security flash points being swiftly contained.
“Now, when you talk about security, Atiku is someone who served as vice president in a government that provided security, and we are satisfied and happy with the first eight years of the PDP administration,” Nwodo said. “We never had this kind of insecurity; where there were flash points, that administration nipped them in the bud.”
