Ekiti Govt pays LG workers 2 months’ salary arrears

Governor Biodun Oyebanji within three months in office has paid two months’ salary arrears to local government workers in Ekiti State.

The Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Mr Oluwadare Jolumo disclosed this at the January edition of the Joint Account Committee (JAAC) meeting held in Ado Ekiti.

Mr Jolumo said the gesture was part of government’s efforts to make workers’ welfare a priority.

He solicited the support and cooperation of government workers towards recording more successes as promised by the governor during the electioneering period.

In his reaction, the Chairman of Ekiti State’s chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE ), Bodunde Olatunde, appreciated the administration of Gov Oyebanji for paying the arrears and promised the support of local government workers for the administration.

The chairman of Ekiti West Local Government Area, Olusesan Okere, also appreciated the governor for being proactive in matters affecting the people at the grassroots, while he also appealed for more support for the administration.
