The Action Alliance in Ogun State has alleged that political parties in the state offered the party’s leadership a sum of N500 million to collapse its structure. The party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Samuel Adeyemi, said the offer was rejected, emphasizing that the party maintains structures in all 236 wards of the state. He disclosed this while speaking with reporters at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, but did not reveal the identities of the parties involved.
Adeyemi explained that on August 11, representatives from opposition parties visited the secretariat and proposed an amount ranging from N200 million to N500 million. “We rejected it, and they left disappointed,” he said. “If we were after money, we would have taken it and disappeared, but we are here to show that we are serious about our mission.” He added that, as a politician, he has been offered money by many, except the sitting government.
The candidate highlighted the party’s extensive grassroots presence, noting that it has structures in all 236 wards. He expects the party to rank among the top three in terms of polling unit agents once INEC releases the updated list. Adeyemi also announced that his administration would fund the state budget’s investment in cocoa farming.
Earlier in his address, party leader Dapo Adeyemi described the Action Alliance as a “third force” in Ogun State. He noted that the party contested the local government elections, garnered a significant number of votes, but did not win any positions.
