Abia Warriors Granted Approval to Play NPFL Home Games at Umuahia Township Stadium

Abia Warriors, a prominent football club in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has received approval to play their home games at the Umuahia Township Stadium. This decision was communicated to the club by NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, in a recent memo.

The approval comes with a caveat – the club must make significant improvements to the stadium facilities to meet the league’s standards. The current state of the stadium, including the spectators’ terraces, changing rooms, television camera stands, and overall environment, does not meet the requirements for hosting NPFL games in the upcoming season.

Abia Warriors have been advised to address these deficiencies promptly to ensure compliance with club licensing regulations. Failure to do so may result in the club being unable to host games at the stadium in the future.

This development follows a previous ban on Abia Warriors playing at their home ground due to complaints from opposing teams about the poor condition of the playing surface. The club is set to make its return to the Umuahia Township Stadium for a match against Lobi Stars on Sunday, marking a new chapter in their home game journey.

The NPFL’s decision underscores the importance of maintaining high standards in football infrastructure and facilities. Abia Warriors’ commitment to improving the stadium reflects their dedication to providing a top-notch experience for players, fans, and viewers alike.

As Abia Warriors gear up for their upcoming matches, the spotlight is on their efforts to elevate the Umuahia Township Stadium to meet the NPFL’s expectations. Stay tuned for more updates on their progress and performance in the league.
