Kano State Ministry of Health Refutes Measles Outbreak Reports in Kano Municipal LGA

The Kano State Ministry of Health has firmly rejected claims of a measles outbreak in the Kano Municipal Local Government Area. In a statement released by Dr. Imam Wada Bello, the Director of Public Health and Disease Control, the ministry refuted the reports circulating in the area.

Authorities at the Kano Municipal Local Government Council had previously confirmed the outbreak of measles in certain parts of the local government area. However, Dr. Imam Wada Bello stated that specific procedures and criteria must be met before officially declaring an outbreak. These include laboratory investigations, tests, assessment of disease severity, and the number of individuals affected.

Dr. Imam Wada Bello emphasized that none of these necessary procedures had been conducted in the case of the Kano Municipal LGA, therefore invalidating the claims of a measles outbreak. He urged the public to disregard the reports, citing a lack of empirical and clinical evidence to support them.

The statement reassured the public that the ministry is actively monitoring all potential public health threats and is prepared to take swift action to contain any outbreaks. The ministry, along with its 44 LGAs’ Emergency Preparedness Response (EPR), is working closely with relevant stakeholders to respond promptly to any health crises that may arise.

In conclusion, the Kano State Ministry of Health remains vigilant and committed to safeguarding the well-being of the community by ensuring the timely and effective management of public health challenges.
