Cross River APC Deputy Governor Ensures Equal Opportunities for Old and New Members

In a recent development in Cross River State, Deputy Governor Mr. Peter Odey has addressed concerns regarding favoritism within the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC). Following former Governor Ben Ayade’s defection to the APC, there were allegations that only new members were receiving government appointments, leaving old members feeling neglected.

However, Deputy Governor Odey made it clear that the APC values all its members, regardless of their tenure in the party. He emphasized this point during a gathering in Igoli Ogoja, where he welcomed Mike Usibe, a former Chairman of Yala Local Government Council and Commissioner for New Cities Development under the opposition party, PDP. Odey highlighted his own experience, having been nominated as Deputy Governor just nine months after joining the APC, as evidence of equal opportunities within the party.

Assuring the defectors that their contributions would be respected, Odey expressed confidence in Governor Otu’s administration to embrace all party members. He specifically praised Usibe for his political influence, extending beyond Yala to Ogoj LGA.

The event also saw the chapter Chairmen of Yala and Ogoja, Mr. Solomon Ogar and Hon. Paul Adinye, acknowledging Usibe’s defection as a significant shift in the political landscape of the region, removing a formidable opposition force.

This development underscores the APC’s commitment to inclusivity and unity among its members, regardless of their political history. As the party continues to grow and evolve, it remains steadfast in its mission to provide equal opportunities for all who align with its principles.
