The Director‑General of the Labour Party Kaduna State Governorship Campaign Council, Tsahiru Bako, said on Saturday that only God can prevent the party’s candidate, Jonathan Asake, from winning the March 11 governorship election. Bako described Asake’s campaign as a “divine project,” emphasizing that the Labour Party is now a movement whose time has arrived.

He likened Asake to an unstoppable wind, warning that any effort to block his victory would be tantamount to opposing God. “Thank God that this time around it’s a movement, not a party. Anyone who tries to stop the wind knows they are contesting against God, because it is God who makes the wind blow,” Bako said. He added that, just as the wind could not be stopped from bringing President Muhammadu Buhari to power in 2015, it would likewise carry Asake to the governorship of Kaduna State.

Bako also asserted that Asake is far more qualified than the candidates from other parties. The other contenders include the All Progressives Congress candidate and incumbent Kaduna Central senator Uba Sani, former House of Representatives member Alhaji Isah Kudan of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Action Democratic Party candidate Alhaji Sani Sha’aban, who is also an in‑law of President Buhari, among others.
