Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri Urges Unity for State Development

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has called on the political class in the state to set aside their differences and petty rivalries for the greater good of unity and development. Speaking at a grand reception honoring distinguished individuals from the Ekeremor Local Government Area, Governor Diri emphasized that it was time to shift focus from politics to governance.

Governor Diri, who recently began his second term in office alongside his deputy Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, highlighted the importance of collaboration and unity in driving the state towards progress. Among those honored at the event were notable figures such as Heineken Lokpobiri, Denyanbofa Dimaro, Mrs. Bekearedebo Warrens, Kemasuode Wodu, and Felix Okorotie, who were all recognized for their contributions to the state.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Daniel Alabrah, Governor Diri expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Bayelsa natives to key positions in his administration. He also acknowledged the role of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in the appointment of Lokpobiri as a minister.

Governor Diri emphasized the need to prioritize governance over party politics, stressing the importance of collective effort in driving development. He highlighted key infrastructure projects, such as the construction of the Nembe-Brass road in Bayelsa East senatorial district, and expressed optimism about the Federal Government’s interest in supporting the project.

As Governor Diri continues to steer Bayelsa State towards growth and development, he called on all residents to unite and work together towards a brighter future for the state. The time for political differences is over, and it is now time to focus on building a stronger and more prosperous Bayelsa for all its citizens.
