Senegal Presidential Election: Candidates’ Visions for Prosperity and Democracy

The presidential election in Senegal is fast approaching, with 19 candidates vying for the top position. As the campaign heats up, each candidate is outlining their plans for the country if they were to win the election on March 24.

Khalifa Ababacar Sall, a candidate of the Khalifa President coalition, is focusing on strengthening the unity of the Senegalese people through his program centered around ‘Human, Water, Earth’. He aims to preserve the tradition of a united nation rich in diversity and open to all fraternities. Sall also plans to rebuild governance around a republican pact, guaranteeing the rule of law and the free exercise of human rights.

Déthie Fall, another candidate, envisions making Senegal a country that is good to live in and beautiful to see. He aims to address social stress by improving access to healthcare, education, food, and housing. Fall also emphasizes the importance of transforming Senegal into a sovereign country with a strong democracy and economic growth driven by industrialization.

Thierno Alassane Sall’s vision is to make Senegal the showcase of democracy in West Africa. He plans to strengthen the credibility of institutions and develop an industrial infrastructure to drive economic growth. Sall also aims to improve access to healthcare and promote an integrated knowledge economy encompassing education, research, culture, and sport.

Aliou Mamadou Dia, the candidate of the Union and Rally Party (PUR), shares his vision of a prosperous Senegal built on equity, transparency, unity, and respect for human dignity. He outlines a program focused on developing human capital, building a competitive and sustainable economy, improving governance, and enhancing social protection.
