Naira scarcity: Artisans reject cash transfer in Sokoto

As scarcity of naira hits the country, some artisans in Sokoto State have continued to rejects money transfer in exchange of cash payment.

Our correspondent who monitored the development in the state gathered that majority of artisans in the state rejected money transfer due to network problem.

Speaking with our correspondent on the reasons behind the decision, Yusuf Welder said he decided to stop the idea of receiving transfer because most of such transfer ended up reversing back to the sender.

“I can’t take transfer as payment for my service at all, if you transfer money to me where would I get the money from.

“I cannot leave my shop to go and spend whole day at the ATM centre or is it the POS where I will have to pay exhurbitant fees to get money, I cannot take such chance”

Also reacting to the development, a motor mechanic, Monday Andrew, said he took such a decision due to scarcity of naira in the state.

He said most of the transfer he got from his customers last week did not enter his account, leading to his drastic decision.
