In a move to ensure the selection of a suitable candidate for the upcoming November governorship election in Ondo State, a group of leaders from the All Progressives Congress (APC), known as Ondo APC Aborigines, has established a nine-member committee to evaluate and screen all governorship aspirants within the party.

Led by Christy Olufowose, the committee has been tasked with assessing the aspirants and presenting the top three candidates to the APC Aborigines leaders for final selection. The decision-making process took place during a meeting held in Akure, the state capital, under the leadership of former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Togo, Sola Iji.

During the meeting, Ambassador Iji highlighted the importance of drawing lessons from past experiences and avoiding the repetition of mistakes. The gathering aimed to bring together party leaders to align their interests and resources in selecting a candidate who embodies the desires and aspirations of the party members.

“This is a gathering of the original members of the APC in Ondo State, known as Aborigine members of the party. We are uniting the party leaders who have dedicated their efforts to its growth. It is time for us to reclaim our party,” Ambassador Iji stated.

He emphasized the need for the party’s resources to benefit its members rather than outsiders, with the ultimate goal of establishing a government that truly represents the people. The meeting brought together leaders from various local governments to carefully evaluate the governorship aspirants and make an informed decision.

By taking back control of the party, the Ondo APC Aborigines are determined to ensure that the chosen candidate reflects the values and interests of the party members, ultimately working towards a government that serves the people.
