Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational Associated Institutions, and the National Association of Academic Technologists of the University of Lagos gathered in front of the school’s gate for a peaceful protest. They blocked traffic, sang songs, and held up placards to express their frustrations with the Federal Government for withholding their salaries.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of SSANU and NASU had been trying to get the government to address their exclusion from the salary payments that were made to the Academic Staff Union of Universities back in February. These salaries were withheld as a result of the ‘No Work, No Pay policy’ that was implemented by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari in response to strikes by ASUU, SSANU, and NAATS in 2022.

In a show of solidarity, NAATS also joined the protest and initiated a three-day warning strike. The situation remains tense as these university staff members continue to fight for their rights.
