NLC Locks Labour Party Headquarters In Abuja

Tensions within Nigeria’s political landscape have escalated as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has intensified its opposition to the Labour Party (LP). Members of the NLC made a significant move when they gathered at the LP’s headquarters in the Utako area of Abuja last Wednesday.

Leading the charge was Theophilus Ndubuaku, the acting Chair of the NLC’s Political Commission, who demanded the immediate resignation of Julius Abure, the national chairman of the LP. The NLC contends that Abure’s election to the chairmanship was not conducted properly.

Theophilus Ndubuaku also challenged the legitimacy of the upcoming party convention scheduled under Abure’s leadership, labeling it as unauthorized. While no LP officials were present during this confrontation, the labor union representatives established their presence on the premises. Concurrently, officers of the Nigeria Police Force were on-site, ensuring no harm came to the property during the demonstration.
