Dejan Lovren Slams Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s Criticism of Mohamed Salah’s Goals

Former Liverpool defender, Dejan Lovren, has recently come to the defense of Egyptian star forward, Mohamed Salah, after Nigerian retired footballer, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, made controversial comments about Salah’s goalscoring abilities.

In a statement on FootyEmporium on Instagram, Aiyegbeni questioned Salah’s status as a ‘world-class’ player, suggesting that many of his goals are simply down to luck. He went on to list his picks for the greatest African players in the Premier League, which notably did not include Salah.

However, Lovren, who played alongside Salah at Liverpool, quickly jumped to his former teammate’s defense. In a witty response to Aiyegbeni’s comments, Lovren implied that the Nigerian may have been under the influence when making such statements.

Taking to Instagram, the 34-year-old defender quipped, “Clearly he tried some new drinks.”

The exchange between the two former footballers has sparked debate among fans and pundits alike, with many coming to Salah’s defense and praising his undeniable talent on the field.

As the football world continues to buzz with speculation and opinions, one thing remains clear – Mohamed Salah’s impact and skill on the pitch speak for themselves, regardless of what critics may say.
