Nigerian Government Requires NIN Linkage for N50,000 Grant Scheme

The Nigerian Federal Government has recently made an important announcement regarding the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, which aims to provide financial assistance to citizens across all 774 local government areas. In a notice posted by the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, it was revealed that applicants must now link their applications with their National Identity Number (NIN) to proceed with the processing.

The Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that the NIN provided by the applicants matches their name, as per the Central Bank of Nigeria’s requirement for NIN-Account number linkage. Without this crucial step, the processing of applications will not be possible.

Applicants can expect to receive an SMS from ‘FGGRANTLOAN’ with instructions on how to securely submit their NIN information. This new regulation is necessary to comply with the Central Bank’s guidelines and to ensure the smooth continuation of the application process.

The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment expressed gratitude to all applicants for their interest in the Presidential Conditional Grant Programme and assured them that their applications are being carefully reviewed. Only verified applicants will receive the notification to link their NIN, and their cooperation is greatly appreciated.

The scheme, set to kick off on March 9, 2024, will provide financial grants to eligible small business owners in Nigeria, with no repayment obligations. The government is committed to supporting small businesses and fostering national growth through this initiative.

Stay tuned for further updates on the application process and thank you for your participation in this important program.
