Senegal Presidential Candidates Call for Peace and Vigilance

Amadou Ba and Khalifa Sall, two key figures in the Benno Bokk Yakaar coalition, have urged for peace and vigilance in the wake of the closely contested presidential election in Senegal.

Speaking to the press after casting his vote at the Grand Médine HLM centre, ruling coalition candidate Ba emphasized the peaceful nature of the campaign and expressed hope for a continued absence of violence. Accompanied by his wife, the former prime minister called on the electorate to maintain good morale and sent a message of peace to the Senegalese people.

Meanwhile, presidential candidate Khalifa Sall, after voting at the Ecole Grand Yoff polling station, called for vigilance among the Senegalese population, as well as the agents and representatives at polling stations. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the integrity of the electoral process and urged everyone to prevent any false play.

Reflecting on the challenges leading up to the election, Sall acknowledged the postponement of the initial voting date and described it as a desecration of the democratic process in Senegal. Despite these setbacks, he commended the determination and perseverance of the Senegalese people and called for a peaceful and sincere election on March 24.

As the country awaits the results of the election, both candidates have emphasized the importance of a fair and transparent process, urging all parties to respect the outcome and uphold the democratic values of Senegal.
