Federal Government Warns Against Hoarding and Speculative Trading in Agriculture Sector

Minister Abubakar Kyari of Agriculture and Food Security in Nigeria has issued a strong warning against hoarding and speculative trading as the government ramps up efforts to boost food production in the country. Speaking at a special Ramadan lecture in Abuja, the minister highlighted the challenges facing the agricultural sector, including insecurity and artificial shortages caused by hoarding.

During the lecture themed “Gratitude, Patience and Vision: Embracing challenges with Optimism”, Minister Kyari emphasized the need for collective action to address these issues. He pointed out instances of warehouses being used to hoard food items, leading to inflated prices and scarcity in the market. Minister Kyari urged citizens to play their part in ensuring food security for all.

Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Abdullahi, also called on Muslims to pray for the nation and its leaders during the holy month of Ramadan. He reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to tackle economic challenges and ensure a stable food supply.

The Federal Government is dedicated to working tirelessly to enhance food security and combat insecurity in Nigeria. By cracking down on hoarding and promoting transparency in the food supply chain, the government aims to stabilize prices and ensure access to essential food items for all citizens. Let us all join hands in supporting these efforts for a more food-secure future.
