Nigeria Police Explains Why Cross-Dressers Can’t Be Arrested: No Law Against It

The Nigeria Police Force has clarified why they cannot arrest cross-dressers in the country. In an interview on Channels TV, the Force’s spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, explained that there is no specific law in Nigeria that mandates the arrest of cross-dressers.

Adejobi addressed concerns about the increasing number of cross-dressers in Nigeria, stating that without concrete evidence, it is challenging to prosecute individuals solely based on their choice of clothing. He emphasized the importance of having substantial proof to support any allegations before taking legal action.

The recent controversy surrounding the recognition of a famous cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, as the ‘Best Dressed Female’ at a movie premiere sparked debates on social media platforms. However, Adejobi reiterated that while certain behaviors may raise suspicions, the police must have solid evidence to pursue legal action.

In Nigeria, natural offenses are punishable under the law, but the police must gather enough proof to ensure a successful prosecution. Adejobi emphasized the importance of credibility and evidence in upholding justice.

Overall, the Nigeria Police Force’s stance on cross-dressing reflects the need for thorough investigation and evidence before taking legal action. The debate surrounding this issue highlights the complexities of law enforcement and the importance of upholding justice in a diverse society.
