The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has seen a significant influx of funds, with approximately N720 million generated from the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for the upcoming governorship primaries. A total of 16 aspirants, including 14 male and 2 female contenders, have purchased these forms in hopes of securing the party’s ticket for the November 16 election.
The male aspirants, who each paid N50 million for the forms, include notable figures such as Governor Lucky Ayiedatiwa, Olusoji Ehinlanwo, Jimi Odimayo, Jimoh Ibrahim, and APC National Vice Chairman (South West) Isaacs Kekemeke. On the other hand, the two female aspirants, Funmilayo Adekojo and Funke Omogoroye, paid N10 million each for the expression of interest form, reflecting the party’s commitment to inclusivity for females and persons living with disabilities.
The sale and collection of forms commenced on March 27 and concluded on April 3, 2024. Aspirants are required to submit their completed forms to the Directorate of Organisation by Friday, April 5. The diverse pool of candidates, ranging from seasoned politicians to fresh faces, sets the stage for a competitive and dynamic governorship race in Ondo State.
