The Ogun State Police Command announced on Tuesday that heightened security measures will be in place across the state during the Eid-el-Fitri period to combat criminal activities. The command has deployed officers to oversee the safety of citizens at praying grounds and is working in conjunction with other security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and properties during the festive season.

Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has instructed supervisory Area Commanders to provide regular situation reports to the state command throughout the celebrations. Police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, emphasized the deployment of officers to critical flashpoints and the implementation of barricaded stop and searches in areas such as Kemta, Bamboo, Onigarri, Odeda, Long Bridge, Alapako, Ogunmakin, Foursquare, and Straight gate.

The public is urged to cooperate with security personnel, especially visitors entering the Gateway State, as thorough security checks will be conducted. Specialized units, including Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Counter Terrorism, and Mobile Police, will be stationed at prayer grounds to prevent attacks and deter criminals. Additionally, other security agencies will patrol the Lagos Ibadan expressway, Sagamu Benin highway, and Kara long bridge, under the supervision of Divisional Police Officers.

Soft targets like point-of-sale locations, eateries, lounges, restaurants, and hotels are advised to remain vigilant and secure their valuables to avoid falling victim to criminal activities. The Ogun State Police Command is committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors alike during the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
