Sudan Conflict: A Plan International Staff Member’s Journey Home

A Plan International staff member in Sudan, Hassan*, had his life turned upside down when conflict erupted just as he was about to leave for his wedding in Darfur. Forced to stay in White Nile State, he now spends his days helping displaced communities, unable to see his family or fiancé.

As the conflict in Sudan rages on, families like Hassan’s are torn apart, with millions displaced and in need of humanitarian aid. Despite the challenges of insecurity and limited resources, Hassan and his colleagues at Plan International continue to provide essential assistance to those affected by the crisis.

For Hassan, the hope of reuniting with his fiancé and family remains strong, even as the conflict shows no signs of abating. As the one-year mark of the conflict approaches, Plan International is ramping up efforts to raise awareness and support for the people of Sudan, who are facing what has been called a ‘forgotten emergency’.

With decades of experience in Sudan, Plan International is committed to helping those affected by the conflict, not only in Sudan but also in neighboring countries hosting refugees from the crisis. Despite the challenges, Hassan and his team remain dedicated to their mission of providing aid and support to those in need.
