New Edo State Deputy Governor Godwins Omobayo Vows to Implement Master Plan

The newly appointed deputy governor of Edo State, Godwins Omobayo, has expressed his commitment to following the existing plan in place upon assuming office. In a press conference on Wednesday, Omobayo praised Governor Godwin Obaseki for making the right decision at the right time in appointing him.

“I already met a plan on the ground and all I need is to flow along with it,” Omobayo stated. He highlighted ongoing efforts to develop masterplans for different regions in the state, emphasizing the importance of addressing environmental concerns in Edo North where illegal mining activities are prevalent. Omobayo also mentioned the implementation of a GIS system to monitor and manage natural resources effectively.

Looking ahead to the September 2024 election, Omobayo expressed confidence in securing a significant portion of votes from Akoko-Edo, thanks to the initiatives undertaken by the current administration. His vision for the state includes sustainable development and strategic planning to benefit the people of Edo.

Omobayo’s appointment came after the impeachment of his predecessor, Philip Shaibu, following allegations of misconduct and perjury. The impeachment process, led by a panel appointed by the Chief Judge of Edo State, resulted in a majority vote in favor of Shaibu’s removal from office.

As Edo State transitions under new leadership, Omobayo’s focus on continuity and progress signals a promising future for the region. Stay tuned for updates on the state’s development and political landscape.
