Senator Lawan Urges Military Probe into Gashu’a Civilian Killings

President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has called for a thorough investigation into the tragic killing of three innocent civilians by soldiers in Gashu’a, the headquarters of Bade local government area in Yobe State. In a statement personally signed by the former Senate President on Sunday, Lawan, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Defence, emphasized the need for the Nigerian Army to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.

“Gashua community has always been a peaceful place with calm people, who have shown support and cooperation towards the military, paramilitary, and all government agents operating in the town,” Lawan stated. He urged residents to remain calm while assuring that he has already engaged with military authorities to ensure that those responsible are apprehended and face the full force of the law. Justice, he emphasized, will be served.

Lawan also extended his condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives in this tragic incident. The call for justice and accountability in this matter is crucial to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
