Three persons were confirmed dead on Monday after gunmen attacked the Maiyanga community in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State. Two additional individuals sustained gunshot injuries during the assault, which took place on Sunday night.
Bulus Sule, a resident of Maiyanga, told The In Jos on Monday that the injured victims were evacuated to a hospital where they are currently receiving treatment. “It was last night (Sunday) that the gunmen came and attacked the people in Maiyanga community. They shot three persons dead while two persons sustained gunshot injuries. The shooting was just too much. Right now, the community is in pain,” he said.
Another resident, identified only as Ilya, condemned the killings and said the attack was reported to security agents, who arrived in the community several hours after the gunmen had fled. He called on the government to strengthen security in the area to prevent further attacks. The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, did not respond to requests for comment at the time of this report.
