UN Secretary-General Condemns Iran’s Attack on Israel, Urges Restraint

The recent attack by Iran on Israel has sparked condemnation from the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres. In a strongly worded statement, Guterres called for maximum restraint from all parties involved, emphasizing the urgent need to avoid further escalation.

Iran’s launch of hundreds of drones and missiles towards Israel resulted in a tense situation, with most of the projectiles being intercepted. However, some missiles did manage to strike Israeli territory, causing damage to a military facility in the southern part of the country.

“I call for an immediate cessation of these hostilities,” Guterres urged, expressing deep concern over the potential for a widespread and devastating escalation in the region. He stressed the importance of all parties exercising restraint to prevent the situation from spiraling into a major military conflict in the Middle East.

The Secretary-General reiterated his stance that the world cannot afford another war, underscoring the need for peaceful resolution and dialogue to address the underlying tensions. As the international community watches the situation unfold, the call for de-escalation and diplomacy remains paramount.
