In a recent development within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the suspension of National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the ward level has sparked reactions from various quarters, including former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad.

Ahmad, known for his close ties to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, drew parallels between Ganduje’s suspension and that of former APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole. He pointed out that if Ganduje’s suspension was carried out in accordance with the party’s laws, then he would no longer be considered a member of the APC.

The suspension of Ganduje, which was initiated by his ward in DawakinTofa local government area of Kano State, was based on allegations of corruption and misconduct during his tenure as Kano State governor. The legal adviser of the ward, Haladu Gwanjo, accused Ganduje of misappropriation of public funds.

Ahmad emphasized that if Ganduje is no longer a registered member of the party, he cannot continue to serve as the national chairman. He highlighted the importance of due process in such matters and alluded to possible political manoeuvres behind the scenes, drawing comparisons to the tactics used during Oshiomhole’s leadership.

The unfolding situation within the APC underscores the complexities of party politics and the need for adherence to internal regulations. As the story continues to evolve, the implications of Ganduje’s suspension on the party’s leadership structure remain to be seen.
