National Coalition Applauds Court Order Reversing APC Chairman’s Suspension

The National Coalition Against Terrorism has responded to a recent court ruling in Kano State, which overturned the suspension of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The ruling, issued by the Federal High Court, came after Ganduje filed a motion seeking to uphold his right to a fair hearing.

In a press conference on Thursday, the coalition’s president, Terrence Kuanum, expressed support for the court’s decision, describing it as a positive development. Kuanum voiced concern over the suspension of a party chairman by individuals who are not members of the APC, emphasizing the importance of due process.

The coalition highlighted the swift rejection of Ganduje’s suspension by all 27 ward executive members of Ganduje ward, including the legal adviser who initially announced the suspension. They emphasized that those behind the suspension were not legitimate party members or executives.

Of particular concern was the involvement of individuals outside the APC in the suspension, leading to questions about the politicization of the judiciary. However, the coalition praised the Federal High Court’s order, which temporarily halted the implementation of the suspension pending further legal proceedings.

The coalition commended the Chief Justice of Nigeria for upholding the integrity of the judicial system and restoring faith in the judiciary. The ruling is seen as a reaffirmation of the importance of fair hearings and due process in the Nigerian legal system.

By upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice is served, the judiciary plays a crucial role in safeguarding the rights of all citizens. The coalition’s response underscores the significance of judicial independence and the need for transparency in legal proceedings.
